// 01 — THE CAR
The Porsche 911 GT3 R runs a 4.2-litre naturally aspirated flat-six producing around 550 bhp — high-revving, naturally aspirated, with a character that rewards commitment and precision. In a class increasingly dominated by turbocharged engines, the GT3 R's flat-six is a distinctive alternative.
The rear-engine layout creates weight distribution challenges that teams must work around, but in the right conditions it provides grip levels and stability that rival layouts struggle to match. The current-generation GT3 R, introduced in 2023, is the most developed version of the platform to date.
// 02 — THE RECORD
Porsche has won more GT3 races than any other manufacturer, by a significant margin — overall victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Spa 24 Hours, the Bathurst 12 Hour, and across dozens of sprint rounds in GTWCE and IMSA.
Manthey Racing has been the benchmark team of the GTWCE era, winning multiple Sprint and Endurance titles. In North America, Wright Motorsports and Pfaff Motorsports have carried the 911 to championship victories. The depth of Porsche's winning record is the result of the most extensive customer racing infrastructure in GT3.
// 03 — WHERE THEY RACE
The 911 GT3 R appears on every significant GT3 grid in the world: GTWCE Sprint and Endurance, IMSA GTD and GTD Pro, the IGTC, the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, GTWCE Asia, and regional championships across Australia, the Middle East, and Europe. No manufacturer has a wider geographical footprint.
At the prestige events, Porsche's numbers are always large. The Spa 24 Hours and Nürburgring 24 Hours regularly see the biggest Porsche fleets of any manufacturer.
// 04 — THE PROGRAMME
Porsche Motorsport Customer Racing is the most established support infrastructure in GT3. Porsche provides factory engineers at all IGTC events and major GTWCE rounds, and a detailed technical support programme throughout the season.
The Porsche Supercup and regional Carrera Cup series form the base of a driver development pyramid that has produced some of the best GT3 talent in the world. The pipeline from Carrera Cup to factory GT3 to Hypercar is the most clearly defined pathway in customer racing.
