BMW
M4 GT3
The M4 GT3 was BMW's most significant investment in customer racing in a decade. It has returned every euro.
// 01 — THE CAR
The BMW M4 GT3 entered the championship in 2022, replacing the M6 GT3. It uses the S58 twin-turbocharged inline-six — the same engine that powers the road-going M4 Competition — producing around 590 bhp. The shift to a more modern architecture brought improved drivability and a broader window of competitive performance across different circuit types.
BMW Motorsport spent multiple seasons testing the platform before launch, working with customer teams to ensure the car arrived well-prepared. The result was one of the stronger new GT3 introductions in recent years.
// 02 — THE RECORD
Team WRT — running BMW machinery after years as an Audi customer team — won the GTWCE Endurance Cup in 2025, a landmark result that validated BMW's investment in the new platform and demonstrated the car's ability to compete at the highest level of endurance racing.
In IMSA, BMW M Team RLL has competed at the GTD Pro level with factory backing. The Nürburgring 24 Hours has also been a target for BMW's factory effort, with multiple M4 GT3 entries competing for overall honours at a circuit where BMW's history runs deep.
// 03 — WHERE THEY RACE
The M4 GT3 competes across GTWCE Sprint and Endurance, IMSA GTD and GTD Pro, the IGTC, the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, and national championships in Europe. BMW Motorsport Customer Racing supports teams in each of these regions.
The GTWCE is the primary focus of BMW's European factory effort, with Team WRT as the headline team. In North America, BMW M Team RLL anchors the factory presence.
// 04 — THE PROGRAMME
BMW Motorsport Customer Racing supports teams through factory engineering at IGTC and major GTWCE events, and access to development data from BMW's factory testing. The factory relationship with Team WRT brought significant technical experience that accelerated the M4 GT3's development curve.
BMW's factory driver programme spans GT3, DTM, and the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh programme — giving GT3 drivers a clear route to factory works roles.
