The Lexus RC F GT3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 — one of the few remaining large-displacement naturally aspirated engines in GT3. It produces around 550 bhp with a character entirely different from turbocharged alternatives: a broad power band, immediate throttle response, and a sound that stands out at the top of the IMSA GTD grid.

The RC F GT3 is based on the Lexus RC F road car, developed by Lexus Racing in collaboration with Toyota Gazoo Racing's technical resources, and has been refined primarily for the North American market.

Lexus Racing's most consistent results have come through Vasser Sullivan Racing in IMSA's GTD class — podiums and race victories across multiple seasons, with the RC F GT3 proving particularly effective at road courses where its naturally aspirated V8 responds well to high-commitment driving.

The programme's record outside North America is limited. Within IMSA, however, the RC F GT3 is a consistent competitor with genuine factory backing.

The Lexus RC F GT3 competes primarily in IMSA WeatherTech Championship GTD. The programme is deliberately focused — Lexus has chosen to build a strong, deep presence in North America rather than spreading resources across multiple international championships.

The IMSA programme reflects Lexus's commitment to motorsport as a brand-building exercise in the North American premium market — the same market where the RC F road car competes directly against BMW M and Mercedes-AMG.

Lexus Racing operates through a close relationship between the factory, Vasser Sullivan Racing, and Toyota Gazoo Racing's US operations. Factory engineering support is provided at IMSA events, with car development benefiting from Toyota's broader motorsport technical resources.

In practice the programme operates more like a works effort than a traditional customer racing operation. The GT3 campaign is a focused factory commitment with the depth of support that focus allows.
